The Real Progress of Mankind
Speech at WHS-2013, Bali: Indonesia
In recent few years man has done tremendous progress as compared to millions of years in the past. But, where our ancestors stood millions of years ago, in terms of resultanyyt outcome we are still standing at the same place. Millions of years ago our ancestors possessed nothing permanent and at present also after so many discoveries and inventions we don’t posses anything everlasting. Bharat has always given direction to the world, in various fields. There was no word christian two thousand years ago. There was no word, Islam also some sixteen hundred years before. Bharat meant the whole world. In those days. ‘Arya’ was the word used earlier, the outsiders started using Hindu instead. There have been two type of cultures in the world ever since, Arya and Anarya. The idea and direction for research was given to the world by Hindus. The planets were given their names after the seers who discovered them. In the field of botanical sciences also our seers found out specific properties of each and every variety of vegetation. Even at present after thousands of years the same properties have the same efficacy. Our seers did not squander away the public money. Just few months before, you must have read in newspapers that the scientist of the world spent some 72000 millions in discovering ‘Hings Boson’ (particles of God) while our seers had perceived the supreme God, with out spending a penny, and gave to the mankind, as a common heritage. The definition of God our seers gave is so panoptic that no philosopher of the world could ever conceive a better definition till date. There have always been some reasons for differences among us which try to create separate and distinct identity of their sect or organization. The fact, however is that the entire mankind is children of one Manu or Adam. Thus we are called manushya or aadmi. In this manner rationalist tried to distort the physical and material sphere of human behavior and way of life. Similarly in a sytematic way there has been a continues effort to distort the spiritual field of mankind. Some intellectual evoutaionists claime that man is evolved from monkey. But infact, man begot man. A lotous came out from Bhagwan Vishnu’s navel; from this lotus flower Brahma was born and from Brahma, in turn begot Manu and shatrupa, in turn begot Manu and Shatrupa. The supreme proffered Manu the first lesson, knowledge about God who alone can ensure enduring peace and happiness, in life because there is nothing other than God who can ensure peace and happiness. This nascent knowledge given to Manu slowly disappeared. As a result of this many distortions came in with the passage of time. That knowledge which had gone in oblivion was proffered once again 5000 years before by lord Sri Krishna to Arjun in the form of an exhortation. It is the result of our oblivion of that divine knowledge that we have become thirsty of each others blood. Is there any thing in this world nobler than God? But we are witnessing the blood shed every where these days to claim for something of this material world. Those who wish to get something from this world, what do they wish to give to the society in turn. Is anything gained by shedding blood is of everlasting nature, something that abides permanently? Therefore shedding of blood for anything, the outcome of which is only sorrow and unhappiness is betrayal, be it with an individual or country. Is this humanity?
If we wish mankind to survive and if we wish to do any good for it then there is only one duty for all of us irrespective of mutual differences of any kind. It is to revive that ancient knowledge that Bhagwan Sri Krishna had given in his homily to Arjun. It is the same nascent knowledge that was given to first man Manu or Adam the son of Brahma, the creator of this universe and the knowledge was lost in oblivion ever since. If the same ancient knowledge is revived once again then certainly every man will be able to live in peace and happiness? Can any language or clothes and life style save man from sorrow and unhappiness? by changing them, can we get rid from sorrow and unhappiness. Can any faith or religion ever be the cause of sorrow. Therefore Sanatan Dharma is changeless and enduring. that which immovable, changeless and omnipresent is everlasting (Sanatan). We have changed our way of dressing, we have changed our food habits. This change came about only after the discoveries of manufacturing of cloth and using iron for various purposes, and by wearing different types of moustaches and beard they tried to establish their separate identities. What are we at present and what were we two thousand years before it? We could go back and stand at the same square from where we had taken different directions, then perhaps we would all be similar again, sanatan, Arya, Hindu.
The way which has been shown by our enlightened sages, if we don’t take to it then know it for certain that happiness, peace, and equality can never be achieved. I wish this seminar all the best. Nonetheless, I would like to add that after spending millions of rupees, if we continue to stand where we are today and also after one year then what is the result and gain of such congregations. Therefore we have to follow the foot prints of enlightened sages and drastically change our thoughts. So long we don’t bring about such change after 1000 years also we will find ourselves standing at the same place. No one can get cured of a disease by learning the name of medicine only. Similarly by mere scholarly expositions, discussions and polemics about the God and the supreme no one can be redeemed from sorrow and unhappiness.
Therefore we should make such seminars, more result oriented rather than just convening annually as a conventional ritual.
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.
